Unit/Building Concepts


Recently I've noticed a lot of new units going up on the blacksmith both copy/paste and modeled and thought it would be nice to have an open forum for people to put cool unit concepts and give ideas for units they would like to see. I can see there are a lot of projects currently in the works and wouldn't mind sharing any concepts or completed graphics I come up with.

I invite anyone else to post their own ideas for units as well as any they've completed and are willing to share.

Personally I'm no good at 3d modeling and my units are all copy/paste for the most part but either are welcome.

Yeah I just extract the bitmaps form the SLP, edit them with paint and then import them back after using the color conversion from turtle pack. It's still the simplest way

Yeah I think so too. I'd just add the step of saving the 256 to a 24 before doing any edits. Then go ahead and edit it and resave it. I think it keeps that color loss from happening. I could just be crazy though haha

John I already made that unit and its in the blacksmith.death and decay are not there though.

I think you might have a little color loss happens sometimes with paint. You used MS paint?
I prefer using Gimp 2 instead paint, because Gimp have some better tools and by extracting (by unchecking the RLE format) instead of saving it dont alert the original colour so you don't need to use the turtle pack palette converter, just a suggest!

A couple of them. I think the Naginata spearman is close and so is the shield maiden but I got started on them and then realized I probably oughta work in order on my mod rather than jump all around so they'll get done here eventually haha. There was another couple from an earlier post I've finished my aquerbusier too but it's not as nice as that other one someone else did I don't think

Thanks. Yeah I've been working on doing nice recoloring ones to try and add a little variety.

Just a suggest, maybe you can add a little white skirt to the light spearman, like the eagle warrior or meso cart skirt!

Not a unit, just a standalone set of Mongolian yurts.

I thought I'd remembered how do edit the data file to add new graphics. I thought wrong. :P

I could do! I have quite a few left over from my ancient era mod that I'll probably not finish, at least not for now, that I could put in there too.
I want to make some northern European longhouses too, but the thatch is tricky to get right.

Hey are those yurts bigger than the ones that are in AoC?

I just mean a units that's good enough so I can release the mod then I'll probably go back in and make new ones where needed.

Dynasty_IV spear man looks cool I had a similar idea to do a full male villager set like that and a female villager set with colors inverted(white parts player color and player color parts white)as a set for the asian civis but never did any of it sure to the extreme number of frames.

Yurts look cool can you upload those and nay other stuff you made?
