  • Character Description:

    Amberle:

    Amberle is a beautiful Elven girl and the “King of the Land Elves’” niece. She was selected by the Ellcrys tree to serve for her as one of the Chosen. She, like all of the Elves, feels a huge debt to the land that gave her life. A few weeks before Allanon arrived at Arborlon, she ran away from her heritage and her home and so shamed herself, her family and her race by neglecting her duties as a Chosen. Her location is unknown and her motives are hidden.

    Wil Ohmsford:

    Wil Ohmsford is the last youth of Shannaras heir. He is a healer whose only goal in life is to be accepted into the stors, a group of selfless Gnomes known throughout the land for their kindness and healing skills. No one outside the race of Gnomes has ever been permitted to work alongside them in written history.

    Ander Elessedil:

    Ander Elessedil is Eventine Elessedil’s son, as well as a caring and humble Elf. He has one older brother who is destined for the crown. Despite the talk of Amberle being a cause for cursing the Elves, he loves her deeply. He stands back to his brother in many aspects of life but does not fear him. He loves him, just like all his family, and is happy for his brother to take the responsibility of becoming king.

    Allanon:

    Allanon is the last of the Druids. He is a secretive being that isolated himself from the affairs of the races. The Druids, all but Bremen and his foretold apprentice and adopted son, Allanon, were slaughtered by their enemies in the night when the Druid councils refused to listen to warnings of war. Bremen died of old age over four hundred years ago. On that day all of the Druid teachings and the entire facility of Paranor disappeared without a trace. The truth behind the matter never came to light. Allanon continues to walk the four lands in hooded silence…

    Eventine Elessedil:

    Eventine Elessedil is the "King of the Land Elves". He loves his people and his land more so than himself. He fought along side Allanon to defeat a common enemy many years ago. The Elven army rode to the aid of Callahorn, which was horribly out numbered by its enemy and beaten back to its final defence. Eventine Elessedil is aging now but can still out work many youthful Elves.

      ° Briefing:

    Some of you might be wondering why I named this The Old Lie instead of The Elfstones of Shannara. Well I did because when I read the book The Elfstones of Shannara it made a lot of subtle points that were similar to themes in the poems Dulce Et Decorum Est and Nothing Gold Can Stay, so I thought it would be nice to mix all the three things together. The Old Lie was simply the easiest name to make this thread to.

      ° Content:

    The storyline posted earlier is the official storyline to the "Elfstones of Shannara" by Terry Brooks. The extract of a poem posted underneath the main banner on this page is called "Dulce Et Decorum Est" by Wilfred Owen. It is also commonly known as "The Old Lie". The second poem near the end of this page is called "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost.

    Looks like you've spent a lot of time thinking this out. That's what I like about you Glitch.

    I wish you the best of luck on this project, but if it ever gets to hard or boring to continue, just email me.

    But, didn't you say that this was going to be for Age of Empires 3?

    Hey, thanks guys that was nice

    @Archaeopterix

    Thanks a load.. but the showcase is crappy I put no effort into making the text look good and I slacked off on the images.

    Lol.. that's the best joke since Obsidian Games!

    Or maybe I did I can't really remember..? Lets hope I did
    --

    Thanks for the offer Pepsidude_123, I appreciate it!

    Yeah.. it was going to be for AoE3 but I was just thinking through battles and eyecandy.. I realised that it wouldn't be worth the headaches.. and plus the mods wern't worth the effort when AoM can do it so much easier and better. And the editor is crappy.. AoM just seems like the better choice.

    @DWIEEB

    Lol.. YAY!!!

    Thank you.

    @ChonKatarn

    Thanks man.. funny the way things turn out.. after all the arguments and gamgingextremes going at zion going at lucky going at kalos we finally sorted it all out.

    Nice announcement, very nice. But of course, The Vandhaal's announcement for "The Corruptor" is better because of the character presentations and such.

    Also, this seems to have a great potential.

    Actually you're wrong.

    There is no definite translation for those latin words into English. They could be sweet and seemily... or sweet and honourable... or sweet and fitting or anything that fits along those lines.

    But saying it was sweet and honourable the direct translation would be:

    "It is a sweet and honourable thing to die for ones fatherland".. except in Enlish we don't say fatherland we say country
