Castletown Mafia

Game Rules
1. Use your brain and don't do anything that you think would be disallowed. Cheating is cheating and if you do so I'll modkill you in whatever way is most disadvantageous for your faction.
2. No talking outside of the gamethread unless otherwise specified.
3. I can't exactly say this game is covered with anti-flavor spray as usual in my games. However, don't expect to find any scum by looking at the flavor names. Do not try and use the differing mechanics by which people execute their roles as a piece of evidence. About half the roles are done backward (send in the action and write the narrative based on the outcome) and half go in the opposite direction.
4. No talking after death, nor doing anything game relevant other than reading.
5. No talking at night. During evenings you are not allowed to discuss strategies. Just the burning process.
6. Sadly nobody will be allowed to replace back in after death. REPLACE OR DIE TWICE
7. Be active, nice, sexy and so forth.
8. Put some effort into your night actions, but pay attention to what I've asked for. I did my best to try and cut down on the pointless narratives that might be required of people and focused on what will actually be relevant. Do a good job. Don't waste time.
9. Have fun. This time, I want you to have all the fun. Let your fun be doubled.
10. No quoting anything from any email. Paraphrasing should be HEAVILY paraphrased.
11. Pro-town players will win with the town after death if and only if their bodies are still in the graveyard. Scum have a regular faction win regardless of how they end up.
12. No getting offended at any religious issues in this game. That'd be silly. The Church is sort of a Pagan-Catholic kind of mix but is otherwise entirely fictional. Don't expect to find any aid in real theology.
13. I don't make claims lists, however I will put them in the thread if requested and made by players.
14. Everypony dance.
15. No editing

Evening 0

T'is a cold day musked by a gloomy sky overhead. For the first time in a hundred years the entire city has grown quiet. The masses have gathered to mourn the loss of their king. His noble sacrifice has gone unforgotten. As tiny droplets of rain plummet down to the Earth, all heads are bowed down to pay their respects. But even in this somber state, the Forces of Evil lay down their plans.

With the turn of his hand the lamenting raindrops turn a sickening shade of red. The Demon Lord, Malice, reveals himself to the crowd, glaring over those below him. Instant panic ensues as the people flee and the Knights of the Realm hurry to hide the body of their king from the grasp of the Demon. Upon striking the ground, the bloody tears from the sky set the grass aflame, creating a minute hellfire in the Castletown graveyard. But all is not lost to this demon. With no warning of any kind, the skies open up from their dreary state and shine a bright light that makes the demon's skin smoke and burn. He screams and retreats to darker areas while the Angels fly down to assert their protection. For now, nothing more will harm this city. The people slowly return to gather once more, and decide how they ought to deal with the pending struggle.

It is now Evening 0
Your only task is to decide whether or not to burn the body of King Geoffrey. Doing so may or may not result in unforeseeable consequences. Do not make any attempt to gather claims, information, or raise suspicions regarding other players that may be pertinent to a night plan. This phase is for the burning decision and the burning decision only.

Also, I do believe this is the first game ever to start with Evening 0. AW YEAH.

With 30 Alive, there are 16 votes required to burn the King's body. Default choice is to bury him. You have 72 hours to make this decision.

From the OP, it seems like the king's body is precious to the town, but so far the king doesn't seem to be tied to anyone's roles (judging by the lack of bury votes).

So, I'll vote: burn.

I'm actually going to Unvote: Sex for now and say -- if anyone has any reason whatsoever why they think the king should be buried, based on their role, they should speak up now. Town and Scum roles alike can... have fun with bodies.

I can't possibly fathom what Town roles could do aside from things like Forensic Investigation. But what good would a role like that do for an NPC?

Regardless, I think we should give people who can manipulate bodies a chance to speak up.

Morality at HGMM has fallen a tad from where it used to be. If it wasn't clear, the rationale behind this mechanic is that if you're not buried you can't go to heaven. Just thought I'd make that clear.

I had the idea that the king might be an enabler or lesser enabler that grants bonuses to someone's role. However, since that doesn't seem to be the case, I voted to burn. I assume that if the king is an enabler or something of the sort, then affected players would have flavor about the king.

I'm 99% sure there's some sort of Necromancer role around, which is much more hurtful than is helpful anything I can think of on the Town side. Still, I don't want to act too quickly.

Would burning their king's body make the town lose favor with heaven or something? Otherwise, I can't really think of a reason why not to. Since the "burned players can't win" thing doesn't really apply to the king, that makes it seem like there is something special about this particular situation, though.

We could always not burn, see what happens, and then determine whether to burn the rest of the bodies or not. It would be a bit risky, though.

For now, I say Vote: Burn, although I'm not entirely sure it's a good idea.

I was uneasy about burning him from the beginning. I just don't believe that burning/burying only affects whether a player is allowed a faction win or not. Perhaps that is it for real players, but I feel like there has to be some drawbacks to burning the king at least. I don't think Thymole would have thought that morals would be all that kept the king from getting burned.

This isn't Dante's game, there is no concept of the gods being displeased if we burn a body because mod interference is likely to be minimal. Heaven is basically death so I don't know what you guys are on about.

Lets burn all NPCs please. This action looks like the best one because it is, there is no reason to overthink it.

You know, those things that my games tend to include a score or so of? Dante is not the only host who uses conditions. He's just the only host so involved in applying conditions during the day based on the behavior of players.
