It's here again! This is the third edition of the betting thread, hosted by yours truly. As usual the player with most right will take home the big prize. (See the example bellow.)


How to compete:
Pick out five of the contestants in the Classic Design Competition and add a post to this thread. Arrange them from first to fifth place and wait.

Post your bet like this:
1. NAME OF CONTESTANT
2. NAME OF CONTESTANT
3. NAME OF CONTESTANT
4. NAME OF CONTESTANT
5. NAME OF CONTESTANT




Prize: 10€ Steam gift card




Rules:


• Judges of the competition may not place a bet.
• Betting on yourself is allowed.
• Changing your bet is allowed if you do it before the results are shown.
• Using smurf-accounts to place more than one bet is not allowed and will result in disqualification.
• Bribes are not needed but appreciated.
• Your newest bet is the only bet that counts, all else aren't counted.
• If bets are identical, the first player to post it wins.
• Just because all of the right players are on your list doesn't mean you win. You need to have them in the right order.
• Downloading and playing an entry before the results are shown is not allowed.



How to win:


Example:

Little Berry has bet placed his bet and after the scores of the Classic Design Competition are shown, he sees that he has gotten the two first competitors right. However the last three are not in the right order.

This is his bet:

4. Batis
5. WaslerMega

This gives him 2 points and his trump is firstly BrillianceStar and then Batis followed by WaslerMega.

Kakashimoto has also managed to pick out two right places.

This is his bet:
1. Batis
2. McTuesday
3. Lord Fukuama
4. WaslerMega
5. BrillianceStar

This gives Kakashimoto 2 points and Batis as trump before McTuesday and then BrillianceStar

Den Cekke also have two rights but has a higher trump than the two others.

This is his bet:
1. Sobomtha13
2. McTuesday
3. Laganos the Rich
4. WaslerMega
5. BrillianceStar

This give Den Cekke 2 points and McTuesday as trump followed by Laganos the Rich and BrillianceStar.

The actual scores are like this:

Den Cekke wins because he has the best/highest scoring trump!

In fairness, that was in 2006. He's probably slipped a little. We can't hold him to that standard forever.

Yeah and considering he is working with an editor that actually works now he might be basically unstoppable.

My money is on Sam. Because Mashek has many strengths, but trigger economy isn't one of them. And I'm not sure I'd want to play a Kretharn war remake with less than 150 triggers, and that's all he makes.

And Julius is about as hopeless as me when it comes to releasing scenarios these days. And Al Kharn hasn't entered.

I must agree. My entry is finished barring a playtesting round and the subsequent tweaks. It's been a refreshing experience to design a relatively simple B&D scenario that doesn't tend towards a more epic scale at all.

I believe that the forum code was actually updated MUCH more recently than that: ...2002.

I do seem to remember the BB code toolbar being added sometime after I joined though.

Ha ha I remember that; we noobies all started somewhere. It's amazing how many big names commented on that thread (ingo, crasher, Paul etc), seems the explosive title worked very well after all!

Speaking of that particular file described in the thread, I remember completing the first part to it, although I don't recall as to why I never released it. I think there were a number of balancing issues after Tanneur playtested it, and I guess I felt disheartened and put it aside. I still have it sitting there though so maybe if I can be bothered I'll submit it sometime. It will be 2006 quality, however.
