If Bluedragon's triggerwork is only half as good as her Map Design, she's really good.

Very impressive. I have a question. I have no idea about modding, but isnt it possible to use higher resolution textures on your models? Is the game prevent you somehow from using higher resolution textures in your models? Or you dont use higher resolution textures for perfomance reasons? Also i saw some very big and complex maps, how good will they perform compared to normal compaigns of aom/aot? Maybe you need to issue different system requirements than the ones that aom/aot has?

I don't think that will be a problem for the maps, but i think the mods resolution is (quite) low because of performance reasons. Remember, there are going to be ltos of mods in each scenario.

Actually Ben, the resolution of the textures on the mods is very high. 4 times the size in each directiom. That's really the highest you can have. If you scale it again (8 times), it gets a bit crazy.

Though, higher resolution doesn't really effect performance that much because AOM has mip mapping.

Meaning if a texture is farther away, AOM lowers the resolution of the texture to increase speed.

I wish you'd have the Scouring of the Shire. I love it that chapter. In my opinion, it's the best part of ROTK.

Just what size are you using for each texture for a standard unit say the hoplite for eg?

We're not modding a hoplite.

For regular soldiers (gondorains, elven soldiers, etc.)
Mostly 2x, but sometimes 4x.

For specific characters, 4x

For very slight changes, 1x or sometimes 2x.

Sounds promosing but even if it will be finished, BFME is only a few months away. If you're a lotr/rts fan you are better of getting that game instead of waiting for mods wich rarely get finished.

It's lame to quote yourself - aom dude

Actually, if you have been reading the first post in this topic, you'll see that most are already finished.

Only 10 or so are left and considering the speed at which we work, we'll have this modpack ready really soon. Then all that's left is the mapping and, on average, each mapper has about 4 scenarios to do. And they've already had a head start. So, we'll have this project ready before BFME comes out.

Besides, some people might not like the new things they're adding to the gameplay in BFME. I've heard they're simplifying a lot of aspects of RTS.

we're making a lotr mod that will appeal to aom fans as well as lotr fans. bfme might not appeal to some aom fans, which is where we come in.

Has the modpack finally been distributed to your mappers?

Not yet, but i believe its in its final stages of development.

AoMP, if it was, we'd be telling you guys.

But it's nearly done. We just have a few mods left to do.

A 100 unit modpack takes time, you know.

So even if the campaign sucks it will still get a 4.5, that is very strange.
