 Endgame.
Ah at last the picture is back ... in black
Arthur - King of the Britons has been charged by God with a sacred quest: to find the Holy Grail! Join this mafia to embark on this epic tale of danger, peril and nasty big pointy teeth. Throughout this mafia you will have the chance to meet and confront your most loved Monty Python characters.

Yes, Monty Python and the Holy Grail Mafia is here!
Please note: There may be some characters from Monty Python who do not appear in The Holy Grail, but who are making an appearance in this mafia.
The usual mafia game mechanics apply, however some roles have been created specially for this game. The balance of this game has been tweaked to the 'HGMain Mafia Forum' setting - so it won't be as easy for the town to win as my other mafia games. The final settings shall be decided by how many players sign up. Ideally I'd like 28 - so advertise like crazy . This may be a bit ambitious, but we can go with less.
I intend to keep signups open for at least a week or until we get the desired number of players - whichever comes last. Please check your calendar to see if you will be away while the game is in progress. Replacements may also sign up.
 
 Rules:
  • Yeebaagooon is God. As if you didn't already know....
  • This game is closed communication unless specified in your role email.
  • You may not directly quote your role email.
  • You may not edit any of your posts in the game thread.
  • This thread will be locked at night - there will not be a sunset phase - we go straight to night after a lynch.
  • There may be some post restrictions - but I have limited these as much as possible as this is HGMain.
  • Please vote and unvote correctly otherwise you will be ignored.
  • Obey the 20 commandments at all times, or I shall smite you.
  • I fart in the general direction of inactives - and they shall be replaced without notification after one prod.
  • I reserve the right to smite any player at any time for any reason and all rules are subject to change without notice.
  • Don't post after you're dead.

    The sound of a horse galloping echoed through the forest. King Arthur approached a small village in search of knights to aid his quest. He rode past the gallows as Patsy faithfully clapped the coconuts together.
    Night fell, and Arthur was forced to take up residence in this peasant village for the day. But as he slept, he had terrible nightmares of death and pain, and feared his quest for the holy grail might end. He knew there were friends in this village, but there were also enemies.

    Send in your night actions. Night 0 lasts 48 hours. Day 1 will commence when all actions are in or when the 48 hours have ellapsed.


    An email will be sent when day 1 starts. This thread will be locked each night.

    In the depths of the night, Arthur stirred in his sleep. A dreadful noise pierced the night air that made the king cover his ears and scream. Screams were heard all over town. Arthur did eventually manage to go back to sleep after the noise.
    King Arthur awoke the next morning and rode to the centre of the village.
    "He must be a king" remarked one of the peasants.
    "Why do you say that?" asked another.
    "Because he hasn't got shit all over him" replied the first peasant.
    Patsy quickly marinated the king in excrement so his identity would not be known by those who wished England ill.

    Most of the town was gathered around the gallows in silence. Arthur made his way through the crowd to see what was wrong. Sprawled in front of the gallows was a heavily mutilated body. The only distinguishable thing were the two horns and long beard.
  • Tim, a pro town-sorcerer played by Xzyiothe is dead. Tim was a jack of all trades who could choose one of many night actions, but would die if targeted. Due to the degree of mutilation of the corpse, Tim shall forever be known as Sir Not Appearing In This Mafia. 
    • It is now Day 1. 27 alive, so 14 to lynch.

    This might take a while

    it's a shame losing xzy although he sounds very vulnerable. I doubt he could have lasted long anyways if I'm understanding his conditions correctly.

    He could choose to either investigate, track, protect or kill one person during the night. He could not kill on night 0.

    You said he would die if targeted. Would he have died if targeted by a doc/RBer/cop? And would he have died if person X had targeted him but (person X) got roleblocked? Another question. Did you understand all of my questions?

    I think most of us are ignoring the huge fact that there was only one kill in a 28 person game. There is obviously something wrong here. Either we were very lucky with doc protection, or the scum in this game are mostly cult, or have some ability that prevents them from killing on night zero.

    A cult seems plausible, but even with a cult I'm pretty sure Yeeb would have more than 1 killer, so I'm sure someone was either protected or RBed.

    Unless anyone has any legit information on anyone then Viper should claim.

    The thing is though, given Xzy's role, it's much more likely that he wasn't the victim of a kill at all. Perhaps the horrible noise has something to do with the Knights who say Ni?

    On the contrary, they are a good choice for scum to pressure, as they cannot defend themselves as well.

    I love getting a roleclaim within a day of the game starting as much as the next guy. But seriously, I doubt everyone has even checked this thread yet. 2/28 votes is absolutely horrible.

    Two common tactics here.
    -Point out obvious things that everyone picked up on, usually scum relating to known mechanics, although James could be hinting at being a doc/rber too.
    -Speculating a cult to increase paranoia among the town: anyone could be scum!

    My action for night one: I did a random roleblock on rotebilbo. I'm not sure if that could have been lucky or not but it could explain for the lack of kills.

    Yeeb mentioned that xzy couldn't kill on night 0, that might be the case with others I suppose.

    Before we go off and accuse each other, who exactly are we aiming to find? The only plausible mafias I can think of are the bunny, the French guy in the castle, and the black knight (who is moat definitely an iron player :P)

    It's generally a good idea to let everyone settle in, analyze the day-post, and report any findings before we jump on someone.

    One kill in a 28 player game makes it rather likely that a roleblocked player would have attempted a kill.

    Maybe it's best to look into Rot?

    Argh, too many posts, this is very hard to keep up with.

    But getting back to the point, I think that you wouldn't be able to make up a role like that, so it seems like he is right. So I don't think there is a point in voting till some new evidence comes up. So Imma going to wait.

    Two common tactics here.
    -Point out obvious things that everyone picked up on, usually scum relating to known mechanics, although James could be hinting at being a doc/rber too.
    -Speculating a cult to increase paranoia among the town: anyone could be scum!

    Also just an fyi, out reach, I said Ni completely on my own as a joke, and that's why I edited in "Curse you Blatant" A few seconds later because he had already taken my joke.

    Also, I think we may be looking over Viper's role a bit too easily. Just because someone role claims a decen role doesn't mean he's home free.

    This is completely illogical, but it is creative thinking. I'm fairly sure everyone who said "ni" did it as a joke. I know I did. But anyways: IT. Now I'd appreciate it if we could start off with some logic.

    It's alsoost likely that several players killed xzy rather than having random roleblocks and protections. The latter would probably have been mentioned in the flavor, the former wouldn't necessarily be said.

    Well you answer my request for IT so my idea of hunting out knights who say NI by potential post restrictions means your not a suspect, so I'm pretty sure the people who confirmed with Ni did it for a lol (instead of it being a requirement).

    However I'm still going to hold people to saying IT. It's not really a big request to say "IT" and anyone not willing to do it is clearly being difficult for a reason. SO FOS is at James Hook ATM, but I'll wait for him to reply again and see if he says IT.

    Cold Vipers Role claim seems pretty strange. It's not really a holy grail character, but yeeb did promise some broad Monty python characters, and some not in Monty python at all.

    If he claimed something like King Arthur and no one exclaimed "WAIT A MINUTE THAT'S ME!" it would be pretty safe, but he has role claimed a very vague character (a safe bet no one else has), with a distinctly pro town role (screaming: "please don't lynch me").

    So I'll give him another FOS, but I'm also questioning if he is a Jester or something, trying to get lynched.

    Yeah, but it doesn't hurt to eliminate the possibility of such a requirement. IT, by the way. I doubt there's any such restriction too, but since it's pretty painless to eliminate, why not do so?

    Anyhow, as I said before, given the nature of Xzy's role (dies if targetted by any action), it's much more likely that he was killed by a non-lethal role given that there are likely to be many more of those roles. That means that anyone who was blocked last night deserves a careful looking at. On the other hand, we don't yet know how many kills are normal for this mafia. One a night might be the norm, in which case being roleblocked means nothing. But a roleblock target gives us a place to start, which is valuable.

    We should, however, first look at ColdViper's role. Unless I'm mistaken, that character does not appear in the holy grail. So would he be likely to feature in this mafia?
