DragonBlood11 presents....
In cooperation with Yeebaagooon and AoMH...
25 People who Changed AoM: A Tribute to the 25 Most Influential AoM Designers, Scripters, Modders, and Moderators.

With the recent nostalgia rush between the impending release of Ripto, Auron's brief visit, and a few other things I thought now would be the time to do this. I have created a list of 25 past and present AoM Designers, Scripters, Modders, and AoMH Moderators, who changed AoM as we know it. These members come from all different backgrounds and all corners of the globe but one thing they all had in common were they all loved designing and without them the design community would not be the same. Throughout the next 25 days I will be counting down my list of the 25 most influential people in AoM design history. This will also give newer members a chance to learn the names of the person who created those triggers or that utility program that they couldn't design without. So starting July 15, 2009 until August 9, 2009 I will (attempt) to reveal a new name every day followed by a short bio and a little information. Enjoy

NOTE: Newer members do not expect to be on this list. The newest person on this list(as in the one with the most recent join date) is from 2006.

Number One

Name:nottud
Achievements: So many achievements that were thought of as impossible
Bio: nottud joined AoMH in 2005. His first maps included the Pit of Doom, Avenger Race, and many more. nottud soon gained a reputation for finding weird glitches in the editor that designers could use to their advantage. In addition he also began to create RM scripts as well as scenarios. His RM debut was called islands and was basically a map with islands. While nottud had a number of decent scenarios and RMS including Escape 4 Worlds, Ancient Evil RPG, and Magic Floor, his name became big when he released Nottud's complete guide, map, template, etc super pack. It recieved a three 5 star ratings and included random maps, templates, the Complete Age of Mythology Sound List, and much more. Soon afterwards he made it possible to rotate buildings in game, and triggers allowing you to select players 11 and 12. His reputatiom soon began to grow as a skilled scenario design, RM scripter, and trigger creator. He created the Checked terrain type! which did work online and I used in my scenario Color Escape. He then compiled his triggers and editor mods with reyk's and others to create Nottud's Editor Superpack and Nottud's Ultimate Editor Superpack. He has created some widely popular triggers including the Transform trigger, conditional effects, shop triggers, and the Search triggers. He also created the stretch unit templates for eyecandiers. Nottud is also known for making scenarios in random map format such as Mythodea, the highly popular Battle of the Shapeshifters, and Chaos in World RPG, all done through RMS. In nearly 4 years nottud's reputation changed from that of an average scenario designer, to a legend and a master of all trades. His various skills and talents changed Age of Mythology and his editor mods took scenario design to a whole other level. It is nottud's jack of all trades style, his epic triggers and random maps, and finally his fun and innovative scenarios that make nottud one of the most influential designers of all time. Without nottud I wouldn't be here right now also so an ode to the boy with a mad imagination.

Vimpmeat surely was my most renewing scenario, but not the best.

The problem with Vimpmeat was that player 1, i.e. the host, always had to be Kabuto, the Titan, which was in my opinion the least fun (and most repetitive) game character to play (still fun to play a couple of times though). So, people might have liked to play it, but they didn't like to host it, because then they'd have to be Kabuto.

Luckily, thanks to better planning and custom triggers this would not be the case for a purely hypothetical Vimpmeat 2.

Ooh, this reminds me of the old Archaeopterix vs Gaurdian days

And not forgetting that Arch also used to be an AoMH cherub

Number Eight

Name:Stephen Caines
Achievements: Legendary Modding Skills
Bio: Stephen Caines joined AoMH in 2004. Over time he slowly built up his skills from that of a 'noob' to what some would call 'the greatest modder of all time'. His first release was the LOTR Civilisation Pack and the LOTR Civilisation Pack Auto Installer, which recieved typical newbie reviews. A month later he released the Men of Rohan Modpack, which improved the textures of some of his LOTR Civ Pack units. Men of Rohan recieved a blazing 5 stars, and Stephen Caines modding began to flourish. He then began improving more of the textures from his LOTR Civ pack. After taking some time off he released An Introduction to Modding, an 124 page guide to modding. It is by far the longest guide ever written for AoM, and explains both the basic, and advanced parts of modding in incredible detail. He then released Bar Builder Version of the LOTR Civ Pack, which decreased the size of his LOTR Civ Pack thanks to Ykkrosh's Bar Builder, followed by more updates to the LOTR Civ
Pack including Treebeard, Warg Rider, Warg, Treebeard Godpower, and LOTR Buildings Pack #1. After taking a 2 year break Stephen Caines returned and released his largest modpack to date Age of Middle Earth, something that could be called an expansion, totally recreating Age of Mythology. He then created AOM:Z which allowed modders to create civs much easier than before. He then released Spanish Text for Vachu's Text Editor, which improved the spanish language.dll. He then created another more basic guide to modding entitled An Introduction to Modelling, which explained a lot of things that newbie modders have trouble with. He then created 9 new skies for the Render Sky function in his Sky Pack, followed by the X-Wing Fighter, the Kangaroo Mod, and the Skeleton Man all which recieved high ratings. Following that he released Single Click Eye Candy, a map full of custom eyecandy. He is currently working on a map
based on LoTR the Two Towers. Since it did not meet his release date he released Not the Two Towers to make up for it. His legendary mods and understanding of Age of Mythology's setup are what make Stephen Caines one of the most influential designers of all time.

Number Seven

Name:CheeZy
Achievements: AoMH Angel, A lot of other stuff that wouldn't fit in this section
Bio: CheeZy joined the HG community in 2002. Originally a member of AoKH he eventually migrated to the AoM community before release. It was at this time he won a beta key and began messing around with the editor. He is the first known person to overlap buildings, an eyecandy style now used by literally everyone. His first creation was a world map, but it did not include Australia because of the AoM Editor's limits. He soon became frustrated with the AoM editor's limits and began working on ways to improve them. He then began working with reyk and they released the New Editor series. Eventually reyk would become the sole creator of this project. He then became a Cherub for AoMH, and within a month, was an angel. He founded the Scenario Design Library, a starting place for most designers. After the titans release, which showed a big change for the better in the AoM editor, the downloads section saw a number of releases from CheeZy including World Map V3X, Horse Race, Rogue Wars, and World Map DM. While those were CheeZy's scenario contribtions he also had lots of utility program contributions which include VX Lightning pack, the Enhanced Audio Modpack, the Extra Features Patch, the Map Editor Patches, the World Lightning Effects pack, the Beta Objects Pack, CheeZy's camera pitch template, and Cool New Lightning Clouds mod. He also created the AoMH Advanced Cinematics Map guide, and the New Editor Objects Patch, and not to mention he started the Semi-Annual Designer Awards. It is CheeZy's go get attitude and his devotion to the Scenario Editor and to AoMH in general that make CheeZy one of the most influential designers of all time.
Creation(s): Beta Objects, Rogue Wars, Horse Race, to see more by CheeZy click here!

P.S I know it's kinda brief but I was really busy this weekend and CheeZy has a wide range of accomplishments so I just tried to hit the keypoints.

A very influential designer. His world maps are without equal, hands down. And the RTS he's working on at Wildfire Games, 0 AD, is sure to be awesome.
