DragonBlood11 presents....
In cooperation with Yeebaagooon and AoMH...
25 People who Changed AoM: A Tribute to the 25 Most Influential AoM Designers, Scripters, Modders, and Moderators.

With the recent nostalgia rush between the impending release of Ripto, Auron's brief visit, and a few other things I thought now would be the time to do this. I have created a list of 25 past and present AoM Designers, Scripters, Modders, and AoMH Moderators, who changed AoM as we know it. These members come from all different backgrounds and all corners of the globe but one thing they all had in common were they all loved designing and without them the design community would not be the same. Throughout the next 25 days I will be counting down my list of the 25 most influential people in AoM design history. This will also give newer members a chance to learn the names of the person who created those triggers or that utility program that they couldn't design without. So starting July 15, 2009 until August 9, 2009 I will (attempt) to reveal a new name every day followed by a short bio and a little information. Enjoy

NOTE: Newer members do not expect to be on this list. The newest person on this list(as in the one with the most recent join date) is from 2006.

Number One

Name:nottud
Achievements: So many achievements that were thought of as impossible
Bio: nottud joined AoMH in 2005. His first maps included the Pit of Doom, Avenger Race, and many more. nottud soon gained a reputation for finding weird glitches in the editor that designers could use to their advantage. In addition he also began to create RM scripts as well as scenarios. His RM debut was called islands and was basically a map with islands. While nottud had a number of decent scenarios and RMS including Escape 4 Worlds, Ancient Evil RPG, and Magic Floor, his name became big when he released Nottud's complete guide, map, template, etc super pack. It recieved a three 5 star ratings and included random maps, templates, the Complete Age of Mythology Sound List, and much more. Soon afterwards he made it possible to rotate buildings in game, and triggers allowing you to select players 11 and 12. His reputatiom soon began to grow as a skilled scenario design, RM scripter, and trigger creator. He created the Checked terrain type! which did work online and I used in my scenario Color Escape. He then compiled his triggers and editor mods with reyk's and others to create Nottud's Editor Superpack and Nottud's Ultimate Editor Superpack. He has created some widely popular triggers including the Transform trigger, conditional effects, shop triggers, and the Search triggers. He also created the stretch unit templates for eyecandiers. Nottud is also known for making scenarios in random map format such as Mythodea, the highly popular Battle of the Shapeshifters, and Chaos in World RPG, all done through RMS. In nearly 4 years nottud's reputation changed from that of an average scenario designer, to a legend and a master of all trades. His various skills and talents changed Age of Mythology and his editor mods took scenario design to a whole other level. It is nottud's jack of all trades style, his epic triggers and random maps, and finally his fun and innovative scenarios that make nottud one of the most influential designers of all time. Without nottud I wouldn't be here right now also so an ode to the boy with a mad imagination.

Number Ten

Name:invent00r
Achievements: One of the best XS scripters that AoM has ever seen
Bio: invent00r joined AoMH in September 2006. Originally his focus was Multiplayer scenarios, not XS scripting, his first scenario being Mythodea of Gods, an AoM Vanilla map that recieved almost zero attention. He then released a sequel to Mythodea of the Gods entitled Mythoadea of the Gods 3. His third scenario, When Gods Clash, garnered more attention and even recieved a rating of 4.0. His fourth scenario submission to AoMH, DFA Mini-Football, like his first scenario, recieved almost no attention, with under 100 downloads. Three months later he released Quest Vars for AoM Vanilla, which added something that most experienced Titans designers couldn't live without to AoM Vanilla, Quest Vars. The file is considered extremely useful, however since few AoMHers still play on Vanilla it has recieved few downloads. Three months later he released his Proactive Triggers, which added a combined total of 86 new extremely useful conditions and effects. After a half a year of XS and scenario silence he released an AI Script that would handle computer micromanaging of units in battle. Months later he released his Quest Var Debugger utility program. The extremely helpful program allows you to manage and edit the Quest vars in your scenarios while playtesting. Recently he released the AoM Mother Nature Editor which allowed designers to edit mother nature in their scenarios chaning it's name, color, and god. The file has already recieved a 4.5 rating and 3 favorites. It is invent00r's elite XS scripting and coding skills, along with his decent scenarios that make him one of the most influential designers of all time.

yay inventoor!

I pay more attention to the games and less to the triggers and stuff themselves, but I know he's freakin' awesome in that kinda of stuff.

GJ!

mog3 and mini-football are still hosted periodically on ESO, and greatly enjoyed when they are played, and he also brought Tiny to vanilla (though it already existed on TT).

Don't forget the first Trigger Request Thread, the Master XS guide, and all of his hard work towards the upcoming Fan Patch.

He's got an insane understanding of the inner workings of AoM and its editor - I'm sure very few could rival his knowledge.

Bravo invent00r, well-deserved.

This is much, much too late, but looking back, here's something that really pissed me off about PrplPplEater: he would advertise his Roman Legion project in irrelevant threads. Take this for example:
The Roman Legion Expansion will have a redesigned UI for Roman gods as well. Look forward to that.
http://aom.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=19,26875,0,10

I think he was much too boastful of his design team's work, great though it may have been.

Just like every day, but well done anyway, you have made some great maps .

And congrats to invent00r too. Who knows what we'd do without your triggers. You're like Prometheus, stealing QVs from TT and giving it to the mortals using Vanilla below. Except nobody wants to chain you to a rock...

Indeed well-deserved. But your only source seems to be the downloads section. You should have a look around the forums too.

Invent00r

Congratulations! and yes, other than just the downloads section's evidence, he has helped me and many many others with technical trigger questions I thought no one would even know! I have learned much from and his work and I am very grateful.

p.s. There is another one I hope is coming on this list soon as well

Thanks DragonBlood11 and everyone else that congratulated me. .

I was away a couple of days, a nice surprise to see all this comments! . Mythodea was actually my first scenario. So you should see a big difference between version 1 and version 3.

Anyways, that was a long time ago, I might do a MoG 4 just when I'm about to end my work on AoM... (Obviously that day will never come!). Thanks again.

Number Nine

Name:Archaeopterix
Achievements: Revolutionary scenarios, Leader of Ambition Designs, Some neat custom triggers
Bio: Archaeopterix joined AoMH in 2003. His first release was Military Upgrades, a MS Excel file that could help you determine the perfect upgrades for any army, followed by ArmySheets, another MS Excel sheet to determine the perfect counters for any army. After a year of silence he released a preview trailer for his upcoming campaign AMNESIA, which was never finished. A month later, he founded Ambition Design, which created some of the most highly regarded scenarios in AoM history. His next scenario was V i m p M e a t, a revolutionary multiplayer scenario that he created along with the help of Ambition Design. The next scenario he released was the legendary Heroines, which he created with the help of fellow Ambition designer, Shrink. Heroines is one of the most downloaded files on AoMH and is considered to be a classic scenario. Following Heroines he released the Town Design Guides, two detailed guides on creating beautiful eyecandy filled towns. Following that he
led the AoMH Group Project eyecandy map. Ten days later he released another classic map Treasure Hunt, which I actually had the honor of playtesting. Following Treasure Hunt he entered the AoMH Pretty Town competition and recieved second place. He then began working with XML scripting and trigger creation, releasing the very helpful AntiGravity effects. His final submission was Heroines 2: The Survival, an epic followup to Heroines, which was, like its preceder, recieved high reviews. Archaeopterix is remembered for his incredible leadership skills, and his innovative scenario design skills.

Yay, I'm a number that's a prime number squared! Many thanks for the kind words!

- Releasing Heroines "with the help of Shrink" is a bit... wrong. Although I'm sure your intentions are all good, Shrink is in many aspects the first author of the Heroines series.
- It's "Ambition Designs"
- OMG you didn't mention Euterpe! I guess we should release it first eh... Will do, will do.

Thanks again, I really like this bio series (EDIT: now that I'm in it).

BTW all along I had assumed that these people were in random order (yes, I already found the countdown principle somewhat weird)... It just doesn't make sense to order designers that are all so different yet all so good (not speaking of myself, of course).

I had a look at Vimp Meat once, sadly I never saw it hosted on ESO. I still think that's your best scenario.

Well done.
